With the charity concert "Songs for a Soldier" that took place yesterday and will be broadcast on June 22nd, the Carolin Illenzeer Foundation raises money to support the education and hobbies of children of seriously injured or fallen servicemen. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia Kaja Kallas and her husband Arvo Hallik, the Minister of Defense Kalle Laanet, the Commander of the Defense Forces Lieutenant General Martin Herem paid tribute to the event. The concert was enjoyed by conscripts from the Guard Battalion, the Navy and allied soldiers.

"Estonian men and women stand in the ranks of the Defense Forces for our country and our allies. Our debt of gratitude to them is to make sure that the children of servicemen injured or killed in service feel the support of society", said Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
The charity concert organised by the Carolin Illenzeer Foundation took place for the first time in 2012, and this year's concert marked the 10th anniversary of this cordial event. The concert featured the best Estonian musicians - Tanel Padar, Liisi Koikson, Marko Matvere, Jüri Pootsmann, Elina Born, Toomas Uibo, Eleryn Tiit and Kéa. The orchestra of the Defense Forces also participated in the event for the tenth time, the conductor was Teet Raik. The singers' songs, as well as tracks from Estonia's wide range of music, were performed. The hosts were the Estonian Youth Theater actor Kaisa Selde and the musician René Puura. The concert was directed by Alo Puustak. The Navy's staff and support ship Vambola added a special feature to the stage built in the Miinisadam naval base. The concert "Songs for a Soldier" will be broadcast on the evening of June 22nd at 8 pm on Kanal 2 and as an online broadcast on Postimees' website, but donation phones are already open.

The Carolin Illenzeer Foundation is named after Caroline, the daughter of Senior Lieutenant Arre Illenzeer, who died on a foreign mission to Iraq in 2005. At that time, friends from the Defense Forces began to support the family. Foreign missions continued and sad reports kept coming and as a result the Carolin Illenzeer Foundation was set up to help families in a similar situation. The foundation supports the education and hobbies of the children on its list.
